Company Overview

Yac was originally named Yelling Across Cubicles and created during a hackathon in late 2019 as a walkie-talkie for Mac that allowed colleagues to record and listen to voice messages from teammates. It has since evolved to become a more comprehensive audio communication platform that eliminates pointless meetings. Co-founded by Justin Mitchell CEO and Hunter McKinley CMO, the platform offers an asynchronous voice messaging platform designed to reduce the burden of constant real-time communication and improve productivity. Yacs platform integrates with Slack, allowing for seamless message delivery and transcription access, and directly competes with other collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and Zoom. The company raised a $275,000 pre-seed and a $1.5 million seed round in 2019, in addition to a 1.5 million investment from the Slack Fund. Furthermore, in 2021, it closed a $7.5 million Series A round led by GGV Capital.
