Mr. Cairn Cross is a Co-Founder and serves as Managing Director at FreshTracks Capital. He serves as Board Member and Advisor at GreenSpark Solar. Cross presently serves on the boards of FreshTracks portfolio companies Vermont Teddy Bear, NativeEnergy and Faraday. He also served as Board Member at Budnitz Bicycles. Prior to the sale of M2S, Cairn was an observer to the company's Board of Directors and a member of the board's ad hoc audit committee. Cairn was formerly the Chair of the Board for the EatingWell Media Group which was sold to Meredith Corporation in 2011. Cairn also served on the Board of Directors of NEHP prior to its sale to Critical Process Systems. From 1996 to 2000 he owned and operated Cross Vermont Financial, a strategic and financial consultancy to Vermont banks and growth businesses such as Collector Online, Otter Creek Industries,Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, and theMerchants Bank. From 1996 to 1998, Cairn was the Assistant General Manager of Green Mountain Capital, L.P. From 1991 to 1996 he was a Vice President and Corporate Loan Officer for the Howard Bank, preceded by five years service in various positions for Vermont National Bank including Commercial Loan Officer. Cairn is on the board of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund. Cairn formerly served as Co-Chair and Steering Committee member of the Vermont Investors' Forum, an annual "venture fair" for Vermont companies, and previously served on the board of directors of the Addison County Economic Development Corporation. He has spearheaded Peak Pitch, the Vermont version of an elevator pitch substituting a chairlift for an elevator since 2010. Cairn was a co-founder of Startup Vermont in 2012. He is a former member of the Vermont Board of Public Accountancy and was formerly a director and Vice Chairman of Opportunities Credit Union and formerly a director of the Vermont Community Loan Fund. Mr. Cross is also a Lecturer for the University of Vermont and Champlain College, focusing on business, entrepreneurship and venture capital. In 2011, the United States Small Business Administration named Cairn its Vermont, New England and National Financial Services Champion. He earned a B.S. (1981) from Montana State University and an MBA (1987) from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University). He received a graduate certificate from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1995. He lives in Ferrisburg, Vermont.
